What is your favorite part of serving on the school board?

I feel I’ve had many. It was exciting to see my name on Springfield High School’s plaque for the new cafeteria. It’s such a great honor to be able to name Maurepas High School gym after two legendary coaches. I was all smiles commemorating Coach Daniel Martin of French Settlement High School when he retired. We’ve been able to install a playground upgrade for French Settlement Elementary, carpool covers at Springfield Elementary, fencing around Springfield Middle School, and others. It’s not about doing one single thing. It’s about being there for the kids, school employees, and the parents.   Parents, thank you for trusting me to aid the school leaders to help better your kids. School leaders, thank you for believing in me enough to set the tasks before me.

What inspired you to join the school board?

I wanted my 9-year-old daughter and all the other kids to have a voice. I love Livingston Parish, and I felt like I could give more back to the parish than what I was currently giving.

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?

 My main goal is to make sure each school has the best security it can.

Do you have a favorite quote or personal motto?

My dad always told me, “Go not where others have gone. Go your own way and blaze your own trail”. I think that helps. I don’t have to follow the status quo. This is not a steppingstone for me. I want to do the absolute very best I can and hope my peers see the same for 12 years. By blazing my own trail, I’m hopefully leading those in my district to brighter futures.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I’ve had a burning desire to visit all 50 states before I was 50.
I am a proud Christian, and I hope my leadership shows it.
